Custom North Carolina Pattern Belt Axe

To the Tarheel State! The North Carolina pattern axe has a long narrow head with lugs protecting the handle. It is a cousin to the elongated, narrow turpentine pattern axes used in South to notch trees for the production of pine tar, pitch and turpentine. Our take on this pattern weighs in at 1.5 lbs. is forged from 1045 carbon steel and hung on an 18" Amish-turned hickory handle. Honed wicked sharp, it is protected by a Maine-made leather sheath.
